A little Bird in The Works!

After my little hedgehog fail yesterday, today I wanted to knit something more simple.  Enter the sweetest little bird you ever did see! Well, you can't actually see it yet, because I'm not done, but this little knitted bird will be your new best
friend!  I'm super excited about him, if you haven't already noticed!  Knitting has been my saving grace this past month and I can't imagine a day where I am not knitting.  I know that knitting has seen a huge uptick this past year, and with good reason.  Nothing calms my nerves m ore than sitting down with some warm tea, a blanket, and my knitting.  There is nothing better than to knit my cares away.  So please enjoy these yarn pictures!  These are the yarn skeins I'm suing for this project!  I can't wait to show you more! Happy knitting friends!

 A Hedgehog Fail & A Bike Ride

Today as it were, I spent about five hours knitting what I thought would have been a really cute hedgehog, but turned out to be a mouse with long hair instead!  Unfortunately, as a designer you spend a lot of time, well, designing, and sometimes things don't end up working the way you expected things to!  That's okay!  I think it's really important to remember that not everything is perfect and looks amazing 100% of the time! I hope we can all live in a world where we fail, and it's not seen as something that is a bad thing!  Failure brings in new ways of thinking and I hope this hedgehog fail brings me closer to designing a cute one! Here is a picture of the brown and teal yarn that I used.  The brown was hooked on his backside as the "prickles" and the teal was a hat that I made the little hedgie so he wouldn't be cold.  I will have to share with you what he looks like in the morning when there is more light.  On a positive note, I picked up cycling.  Biking is so calming to me, especially where I live, with moutons in the east, and the prairie to the west. I had a very lovely afternoon.

A Robot, A Doll, A Unicorn, & A Hedgehog Oh My!

Today, I made my FIRST Ravelry sale!  I was over the moon when I logged into Ravelry this morning! Nothing gives me more joy than knitting something nice and showing it to the world!  Knitting for me, has been such a breath of fresh air this new year.  2020 was so hard for many different reasons, but to hold some beautiful yarn in my hands and think of all the possibilities, gives me so much hope for the future. My desire is to create unique and beautiful patterns that will bring a smile to everyone's face!  Life is too short for boring knits!

Today is also a lovely sunny day.  The sun has poured into my kitchen and dining room (where I spend most of my day knitting and taking care of my family), and it has made my spirits soar.  I thought I would share with you guys my recent projects, a robot, a doll, and the humble beginnings of a unicorn and a hedgehog!  I can't wait until they are finished and I can share them with you! And as always, HAPPY KNITTING!

A Dreary Day Filled With Knitting

Today is a cloudy and rainy day here in California.  I know we need the rain desperately, but on days like today, it's hard not to feel glum.  So I turn to my trusty yarn and needles, always there for me.  I pick up some bright colors, bright colors will get me through the rest of this winter. The boys went skiing today, so I plan on tackling the laundry and the vacuuming, maybe the bathrooms if I feel adventurous! I finally uploaded all of my patterns to Ravelry yesterday, although I ran into technical issues right away.  Sometimes I feel like a dinosaur!  Technology is not my friend, but knitting is! I feel like that's pretty common with creatives.  Today I want to share with you all, my newest FO... a springtime doll!  After Christmas, I'm already counting down the days until spring!  This is a simple doll, knit flat, seamed together and stuffed with wool.  She is Waldorf inspired.  I love her so much!  She will be up in my Ravelry shop by next week!  When my camera battery is done charging, I was going to take some snapshots of my oldest, he's getting so big!  It brings me so much joy to watch my little ones turn into big ones!  What an experience!  All of my children have glorious freckles and I smile from ear to ear when I see them!  My oldest doesn't like his picture taken much anymore, I think it's a teenager thing, do you have experience with that? They will always be my babies, no matter how old they are!

 New Year, New Knitting Patterns!

Happy New Year everyone! What a year!  I think we can all agree that 2020 was a year we all learned the strength of our resilience! For my family and I, we learned to navigate distance learning for FIVE children, and we spent many days together on our couch.  In many ways, we have grown closer together as a family, and I am enjoying the time spent playing board games, barbies, legos, and puzzles.  I took up reading (sporadically), walking, knitting, and I have a renewed faith in God.  As I move into the new year, I feel more at peace and happier than ever.  I choose to look back at 2020 as a year of love, and faith.  Looking into 2021 I have hope and optimism.  I'm excited too, because this year I am starting a pattern business!  I *just* opened up my first Ravelry shop, and I hope to add new patterns weekly/monthly! Please enjoy these yummy yarn and egg pictures I took the other day in celebration of my new shop!  These are heritage breed eggs (the Easter egg Chicken!) and I had to make a delicious egg quiche to eat while I sat and knitted my first pattern!   Please check out my Ravelry Shop and pick up one of my patterns today! https://www.ravelry.com/designers/the-cosy-wool-patterns
